"Mythos" and "Logos" in the New Church

by Beryl C. Simonetti

Type of Event: Workshop

Date Recorded: June 07, 2005

Location: Bryn Athyn Cairnwood Estate

Groups: General Assemblies, General Assembly 2005

Mythos and Logos can be viewed as two essential and complementary ways of arriving at religious truth. How can we integrate the Mythos of eternal, universal meaning - the interior world of ritual and revelation - with the Logos of reason, intellect and exernal realities? This workshop attempts to define Mythos and Logos and then explore how they have been used (and possibly misused) in the life of religion.
