The Lord in the Word
Type of Event: Worship Service: Chapel Talk
Date Recorded: September 30, 2009
Location: Bryn Athyn Cathedral
Topics: Bible / Word of God
We know that the Lord is a living being, a human being. He is not a book. Yet we know Him through His written Word. (The teachings of the New Church are quite strong on this point.)
Why does the Lord do it this way? Why does He not reveal himself to us in visions, dreams, and living interactions? (Hasn't He done that with people at times?)
Are books a rather dry and indirect way to know God? Wouldn't the Lord have more and better relationships with people, if He only communicated with us in a more personal and lively way?
