Loving our country sometimes means that we need to examine ourselves as citizens, and as a country, and try to do better. In 1 Samuel 24, Saul was king of Israel, but David was meant to be the new king, and Saul was trying to kill him. David’s actions toward Saul offer us an image of what it means to be a good citizen of our country.
