The Sixth Commandment: “You shall not commit adultery”
Type of Event: Worship Service: Family (may include music)
Date Recorded: February 08, 2026
Location: Bryn Athyn Cathedral
(Exodus 20:14) This commandment challenges us to explore the promptings of our heart (ego) which can be at odds with the watchful eye of our understanding (better self). Just as we strive to live in a world free of pollution and contamination, so do we strive to live lives of purity that are free of the filth and profanity in and around us which threaten to contaminate our relationship with the Lord and each other. The Lord, in His infinite mercy and love, invites us to examine our hearts and say in prayer, "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a firm spirit within me." (Psalm 51:10).
