Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - March 25, 2018
This Sunday is Palm Sunday and the last Sunday of our Practicing Forgiveness programme. Throughout these past few weeks we've talked about the difference that forgiveness can make - in an individual's life and in society in general. We understand the before picture and we like the after picture but how do we get from one to the other? This Sunday we'll try to understand more of what comes in between in the process of being transformed by forgiveness. The sermon was written by John L. Odhner, read by Malcolm Smith. | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith | Westville, RSAThe Story Behind Palm Sunday

When the Lord suddenly appeared in the room with His disciples on the evening of Easter Sunday, His first words to them were, "Peace be with you." New Church teachings help us to understand that the risen Lord was Peace itself. Therefore, He was saying to, not only His disciples, but all people, "I am Peace, and I am with you!" | By Rev. The story of the Lord rising from the tomb on Easter morning gives us a wonderful picture of the reality of life after death. But this reality is not always easy to believe in. What are the various “deaths” that we experience in our lives, and how can the Easter story give us faith and hope that there will be “life” after them? | By Rev. Solomon J. Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - April 09, 2017
The Lord always wants people to approach and acknowledge Him. At times we see joyful images in the Scriptures of people doing this. On Palm Sunday a great multitude gathered around the Lord and cried out saying, "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of Jehovah!" (Matthew 21:9) At other times we see images in Scriptures of the Lord mourning because the people of His church are not acknowledging Him. He wept over Jerusalem ( Luke 19:41), and on the cross He said, "I thirst!" (John 19:28) This Palm Sunday we are going to talk about three ways the Lord wants us to acknowledge Him: 1. We acknowlege the Lord by acknowledging that He is the One God of heaven and earth. 2. We acknowledge the Lord by acknowledging that everything good and true comes form him alone. 3. We acknowledge the Lord by living a life according to His commandments. This Palm Sunday reflect on what it means to acknowledge the Lord. Are you genuinely doing this? Are you allowing the Lord to lead you to a state of eternal happiness and peace? Remember that the only reason the Lord wants us to acknowledge Him is because He loves us and wants to save us! ---This week's Recitation---: "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?" (John 11:25-26) | By Rev. Matthew L. Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - April 09, 2017
Palm Sunday represents a crucial turning point in the Lord’s ministry: It was the point at which He went from preaching in the outskirts of the countryside to directly challenging those at the heart of religious life. It also led to His death and eventual resurrection. There is also a turning point for us when we submit to the Lord as King: as He enters we find new challenges, unseen evils, and deep spiritual struggle. Yet ultimately it is all for the good: just as Palm Sunday points through the Crucifixion to Easter Sunday, the Lord’s presence with us cuts through temptations and brings us to eternal peace. | By Rev. Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - March 06, 2016
Between Palm Sunday and Good Friday the Lord spent His time teaching in the temple. By looking at some examples of the Lord's teaching, we can see that the leaders of the Jews were becoming more desperate and combative. The Lord responds with teaching them the truth which they reject and seek to kill Him. To be able to draw closer to the Lord We must be able to hear hard truth and accept it with humility. | By Rev.
