What does it take to walk through the door to heaven that the Lord holds open to us? Our focus on Sunday will be on responding to the Lord’s invitation by steadfastly putting effort into doing as the Lord asks. | By Rt. Rev. Peter M. Buss, Jr. | Bryn Athyn CathedralHold Fast to What You Have
Worship Service: Sermon only - June 09, 2024
(Revelation 3:7-13) The people of the church in Philadelphia were praised for their perseverance in the midst of struggle. They were commanded to “hold fast” to what they have. We are called to a kind of spiritual tenaciousness that has us rely on the Lord and the things in His Word, and to the extent that we can we will be blessed. | By Rt. Rev. Peter M. Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - March 31, 2024
The word “omnipotent” can be attributed only to the Lord; He alone is all-powerful. The Easter story is a manifestation of that power, in that He restored to order everything in His kingdom and took on the power to be our Savior. As He said to His disciples, “All power has been given to Me in heaven and on earth” (Matthew 28:18). On Sunday we will talk about how to receive some of that power into our own lives. There is power in goodness, in doing the things the Lord asks, in sharing what is ours with others, in extending ourselves of the benefit of others, in praying to the Lord for help. | By Rt. Rev. Peter M. Buss, Jr. | Westville, RSAStanding in the Presence of God
Worship Service: Sermon only - December 25, 2023

| By Rt. Rev. Peter M. Buss, Jr. | Bryn Athyn CathedralA Life Connected to the Lord
Worship Service: Family (may include music) - October 15, 2023
(Psalm 84). Using the image of a nest or home in the Psalms, we will explore what it can mean to live a life that intentionally includes the Lord. Our homes are where we belong, can recharge and get centered—and will be even more so if the Lord is consciously invited in. | By Rt. Rev. Peter M. Buss, Jr. | Bryn Athyn CathedralRest For Your Souls
Worship Service: Sermon only - October 15, 2023
“Rest for Your Souls” (Matthew 11:29) Every one of us, deep down, wants peace and contentment, lives of meaning and purpose, and the stream of providence guiding us to all that is good. This Sunday we will look at a core way to receive all these things, to find “rest for our souls” by means of a life connected to the Lord. | By Rt. Rev. Peter M. Buss, Jr. | Bryn Athyn CathedralTreasures in Heaven
Worship Service: Informal Family - July 23, 2023
As with so many of the Lord’s teachings, this one contains several layers of meaning for our lives, beyond not setting our hearts too heavily on the physical treasures of this world. Spiritual treasures include the Lord’s Word, blessings from Him, generosity and an eternal perspective. | By Rt. Rev. Peter M. Buss, Jr. | Bryn Athyn Heilman HallWisely Following the Lord

Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - March 05, 2023
I love the concept of the Lord leading us from one spiritual capability to the next. We will consider the ways the Lord inspires the strength of love and being genuinely considerate of others, the strength of truth and obeying it, and the strength or power of actually doing the Lord’s will. Given the 100th anniversary of Kainon School we will draw particular attention to the spiritual strengths we wish to foster in children—as parents and educators. For the children’s talk, the focus will be on the character strength exhibited by David when he faced Goliath (1 Samuel 17—parts). We will discover that David’s victory came as a result of an inner kind of strength—because he trusted in the Lord. | By Rt. Rev. Peter M. Buss, Jr. | Westville, RSAOur Path to Heaven
Worship Service: Family (may include music) - November 27, 2022
Our path to heaven is called, in one place, a Way of Holiness (Isaiah 35:8). It’s about the Lord’s commandments, and about living the life that leads to heaven. Our focus on Sunday will be on why it is so helpful to us to walk in that way—the benefits to us now, as well as a future in heaven. | By Rt. Rev. Peter M. Worship Service: Informal Family - April 03, 2022
In the stories leading up to Easter, prayers feature often. In every case, even with the Lord Himself, they’re about getting centered and remaining open to the Lord’s leading. | By Rt. Rev. Peter M. Buss, Jr. | Bryn Athyn Heilman HallLearning for a Purpose
Worship Service: Family (may include music) - February 20, 2022
As the title suggests we engage in learning to be able to do things based on that learning. In spritiaul terms the Word is our guide and a spiritual life with our version of usefulness is the outcome. | By Rt. Rev. Peter M. Buss, Jr. | Bryn Athyn CathedralMy Father's Business
Worship Service: Sermon only - February 20, 2022
At age twelve, the Lord declared that He must be about His Father's business. We too are called "to perform a use in accord with the Lord's gracious purposes" (Arcana Coelestia 1103:2). Our focus this Sunday is on our life's purpose or our way of contributing uniquely to the Lord's Kingdom. | By Rt. Rev. Peter M. Buss, Jr. | Bryn Athyn CathedralLed by the Holy Spirit

In Matthew 5:38-42, we hear a call to put energy into the things that matter most. We will explore together the value of working out differences, pursuing spiritual goals, and self-improvement. | By Rt. Rev. Peter M. Buss, Jr. | Bryn Athyn Heilman HallA Fruitful Life
Worship Service: Family (may include music) - April 11, 2021
The Lord asks us in the Gospel of John 15:4 to be a branch that brings forth fruit. A fruitful life is a useful life. With the Lord's guidance, our desire to help can "branch out" in many useful ways as we become more and more capable of serving. | By Rt. Rev. Peter M. Buss, Jr. | Bryn Athyn Cathedral
