Worship Service: Sermon only - January 15, 2012
(Audio goes in and out on this recording). Losing contact with someone we love through death or immigration creates a particular kind of loneliness. This loneliness is a separation from people we would wish to have more contact with. Unfortunately, in many cases more contact is not possible, and so we call this loneliness a loss. We have lost something that cannot be regained. So how do we deal with this loneliness? Please note this sermon is the second in a series of two. You will get more out of this sermon if you listen to the first. http://www.newchurchaudio.org/event/20836.html | By Rev. Derrick Lumsden | Westville, RSALearning To Be Happy

| By Rev. David C. Roth | Boulder, COLoneliness - Longing for More
Worship Service: Sermon only - January 08, 2012
Loneliness is a fairly universal human experience. Loneliness can occur for a number of reasons, one of which is the desire for more than we have--more connection, more love, more friends. This sermon explores one of the pitfalls of loneliness and what do we do to make it through to the other side. | By Rev. Derrick Lumsden | Westville, RSAHope

3 Lessons, Children's Talk, & Adult Sermon | By Rev. Kenneth J. Alden | Boynton Beach, FLFeeling Tired? Think Recovery!
Worship Service: Sermon only - November 06, 2011
Feeling worn out? Need a break and some rest? Maybe you need to think recovery. In sport, progress is only as good as recovery. Our bodies needs time to heal and recovery so that they can grow in strength and ability. Similarly, our minds and spirits need rest and recovery. This week we will look at insights the Lord offers on what helps us recover from those tough weeks. | By Rev. Derrick Lumsden | Westville, RSARemembering the Sabbath Day
Worship Service: Sermon only - October 30, 2011
One of the 10 Commandments is "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy." How do you keep that commandment? How do you break it? Is it just about whether you go to church or not on a given Sunday? To be honest, before I worked on a sermon about this in theological school I didn't really know the answer to these questions. Remembering the Sabbath is not just about going to church but, if you listen to this sermon, you will find out what it's really about. | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith | Westville, RSAOpening The Well

No matter what you have said, thought or done, God never gives up on you. (Jeremiah 46-52; AE 518.38; Prophets & Psalms 112-118) Towards the north, by the bank of the river Euphrates, have they stumbled and fallen. Who is this that cometh up like a stream, whose waters are tossed like the streams? Egypt cometh up like a stream, and his waters are tossed like streams; for he saith, I will come up, I will cover the earth, I will destroy the city and those that dwell in it (Jer. 46:6-8). This signifies the destruction of the church and of its truths by false reasonings from confirming knowledges [scientifica]; the "north" signifies those in whom and from whom there is falsity, the "river Euphrates" false reasonings, "Egypt" confirming knowledges, the "waters that are tossed" falsities themselves, and "to come up, to cover the earth, to destroy the city and those that dwell in it," signifies the destruction of the church and of its doctrine, the "earth" meaning the church, the "city" doctrine of truth, and "those that dwell in it" its goods. Like things are signified by the Nile, "the river of Egypt," and by the Euphrates, "the river of Assyria," elsewhere in the Word (as in Isa. 7:18, 19; 11:15, 16; Ezek. 29:3-5, 10; 31:15; 32:2; Ps. 74:14, 15; 78:44; Exod. (Ps. 1377:17-21); also by "the rivers of Babylon":1). As all spiritual temptations come through falsities that break into the thoughts and infest the interior mind, thus through reasonings from falsities, so temptations are signified by the inundations of waters and by the erruptions of rivers and torrents.
