Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - March 19, 2017
We have spent time exploring the questions "Is it true?" and "Is it kind?" This week we ask "Is it useful?" At the heart of this question is putting truth and kindness into action. Truth and kindness without use are simply airy ideas. By asking "Is it useful?" we bring our focus to the actual impact that our words will have on the people around us. | By Rev. | By Rev. Michael D. Gladish | Mitchellville, MDBecoming More Christ-Like
Worship Service: Sermon only - March 12, 2017
Christianity, at the organizational or individual level, suffers when there is no genuine charity. Therefore, to be more Christian, or to be more Christ-like, requires a transformation that sees a growing focus on loving the Lord and loving others. When true charity is combined with a true understanding of the Lord's message, the church and the individual, rather than facing destruction, grows into what the Lord and other people need the church and the individual to be. | By Rev. In Genesis chapter 14, in a battle of 5 kings against 4 kings, Lot gets captured and carried away by Chedorlaomer, and Abram comes to his rescue. When they return, Melchizedek offers bread and wine and blessings. This confusing chapter describes the confusing nature of our spiritual struggles, and the blessings that the Lord brings on the other side of struggle. | By Rev. Solomon J. Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - March 12, 2017
The Lord Jesus Christ came to us as the Great Prophet. As the prophet He teaches, but also bears the sins of the church by allowing them to act out their rejection of the Word upon Him. This demonstration of the spiritual state of man was not salvation, but an important part of us being able to be saved. We are saved when we go to the Lord and live according to His commandments. | By Rev. Derrick Lumsden | Sarver, PASalvation by Means of a New Heart and a New Mind

Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - March 12, 2017
Communication well takes more than just figuring out if what we want to say is true; we also need to go deeper and ask, "Is it kind?" Do I want to say this because I love and care about this person or is it something else? These questions are often hard to answer but learning how to pay attention to our motivations is an essential piece of learning how to communicate better. | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith | Westville, RSAHoping in the Lord
Worship Service: Sermon only - March 05, 2017
This message reflects on how we might, at times, feel trapped by life. To offset this we need to hold onto hope in the Lord that He has a wonderful future instore for us. We should never lose faith in Him. | By Rev. Garry B. Walsh | Phoenix, AZHow to Help People
Worship Service: Informal Family - March 05, 2017
We all have needs, both physical & spiritual. We need to understand people's needs and fill them. Just as we give food to the hungry, water to the thirsty, etc., in a corresponding way we can identify and meet their spiritual needs. Matthew 25:31-46; Isaiah 58; NJHD 107 | By Rev. John L. Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - March 05, 2017
Throughout the year we offer services of worship that are designed to give people the opportunity to engage more fully with the week's message. People can ask questions, hear other people's thoughts and share their own ideas. These worship services are called Seekers Sundays. The format is as follows: 1. We start as we always do with a song, the opening of the Word and talk for the children. 2. Next the children go downstairs for Sunday School and the adults enjoy a set of readings and brief introduction to the week's lesson/topic. 3. Following this the formal service of worship is brought to a close. People are invited to gather downstairs to continue with a conversation: What questions do you have? What are you insights? How does this apply to our own lives in more practical ways? 3 Tips For Fighting Against The Influences of Hell The hells are always working to destroy us spiritually. They attack us in many subtle and conniving ways. This morning we will discuss three keys to successfully fighting against their influences. 1. Be aware of their existence and tricks. 2. Acknowledge your need for the Lord's help. 3. Fight with the truth from the Lord's Word. | By Rev. Matthew L. Genzlinger | West Concord, MAMindful Communication Challenge - 2 - Is it True?
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - March 05, 2017
Truth matters a lot. Without it we would have no direction or guidance in life. We can however use truth as a bludgeon. I'M right, YOU'RE wrong. The truths that matter most are not the ones that prove us right, but the ones that give us the Lord's perspective on things. When we seek this higher truth the Lord can fill our communication with wisdom. | By Rev. Joel C Glenn | Westville, RSANaming the Animals

Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - February 27, 2017
This Sunday we have the first topic of the Mindful Communication Challenge program: listening. As the person talking, really feeling heard by someone can mean a lot to us. As the listener, there are a lot of things that can get in the way of our being able to listen fully. Let's learn from the Lord about how to get better at listening to Him and to other people. | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith | Westville, RSACreated in the Image and Likeness of God

Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - February 26, 2017
During the month of February, we are having a series of worship services on the topic of marriage. We began this series by talking about the perfect marriage between Divine Love and Wisdom that exists within the Lord Himself. An image of this marriage can be seen in everything the Lord creates, including in each one of us as individuals. Next we talked about how an image of this perfect union between the Lord's Divine Love and Wisdom is seen on a more general level between a husband and wife. In a marriage, the husband in an image of truth, and the wife is an image of good: "Thus the two together form a single image, which imitates the conjugial model of good and truth" (Conjugial Love 100) Today we will look at the state of betrothal (engagement). The Heavenly Doctrines have a lot to say about a couple's state leading up to marriage. We will focus on three teachings. 1. Consent is the essential of marriage. When a person is looking for someone to marry, what does the Lord suggest they keep in mind for their search to be successful? 2. Consent should be followed by the giving of gifts and a formal betrothal. Why are these external confirmations of consent so important? Note that a "formal betrothal" is different from the wedding ceremony. 3. By betrothal a couple is make ready for conjugial love. How is a couple made ready for marriage by betrothal? Why are sexual relations unlawful during this time? This week reflect on the beautiful (and very important) state that leads up to marriage. Even if you are already married, reflecting on betrothal can remind you what makes a marriage strong and successful. Betrothal is all about recognizing and fostering the internal or spiritual union between a bride and bridegroom. Readings: Genesis 24:1-28, Conjugial Love 100, & Conjugial Love 305 | By Rev.
