But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth." (Luke 1:13-14) The General Church of the New Jerusalem holds copyright on "Whence is This Beauty". Music for Bell Choir arranged by Kent Cooper. Used by permission. | By Rt. Rev. Peter M. Buss, Jr. | Bryn Athyn CathedralJohn the Baptist - A Gift to the World
Worship Service: Sermon only - December 18, 2016
Christmas is a good time to reflect on the gifts that the Lord has given, not only throughout the year but throughout our lives. In the Christmas story, Zacharias and Elizabeth were given the gift of a child in their old age. It turns out that their baby, John the Baptist, was the Lord's gift to all humanity. He needed to be the "prophet of the Highest" so that the Lord Himself could come with His gift of redemption and eternal heavenly joy. | By Rev. Garry B. Walsh | Phoenix, AZA Great Light

Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - December 18, 2016
The gift that is most precious to the Lord is gratitude for the gifts He gives us. When we offer to Him spiritual gold, frankincense, and myrrh, we acknowledge Him as the source of all good and truth in our life in the head, the heart, and in the world around us. That acknowledgement is worship. | By Rev. Derrick Lumsden | Sarver, PADo Not Be Afraid

But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John." (Luke 1:13) But while [Joseph] thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit." “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us” (Luke 2:15). What is significant about the Lord being born in Bethlehem? What does “Bethlehem” represent in our lives today? How can we go there to find the Lord? We will look at the story of the wise men bringing gifts to the Lord in Bethlehem. | By Rev. Solomon J. Worship Service: Informal Family - December 11, 2016
Four different Christmas characters heard this message from an angel. What were they scared of? What do we tend to be scared of? What is the role of fear in our life? What are the heaven-sent messages that can alleviate our fears and bring us comfort, courage, renewal, and joy? | By Rev. Solomon J. Keal | Bryn Athyn Heilman HallGod Misunderstood
Worship Service: Sermon only - December 04, 2016
Humanity has long misunderstood the essential nature of the Lord God our Creator. As we picture the tiny infant Lord in the Christmas story, it is so important to understand that the Holy Child was the Son of God, and indeed was God from God. Our understanding of all that follows in the New Testament hinges on this, as does our understanding of our own salvation. | By Rev. Garry B. Walsh | Phoenix, AZThe LORD Himself Will Give You A Sign

The angel Gabriel appeared to Zacharias the priest, and told him that his wife Elizabeth would bear a son in her old age. The son would be called John, and he would prepare the way of the Lord. The miracle of Christmas, of the Lord being born into the world and into our hearts, does not simply happen on its own; we need to prepare for it, and John the Baptist can show us the way. Balaam’s prophecy of the Lord’s birth can be a powerful image of the light the Lord wants to bring to our lives and that He is the King of Kings or the source of wise and loving order for our lives. In preparing for the advent season we can see this prophecy as a reminder of what we can do to welcome the Lord’s birth in our lives. Numbers 24:12-17, AE 422.20 | By Rev. Eric H.
