Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - November 21, 2021
Periodically, it is useful to reflect on the importance of New Church education and ask why we put so much time and energy into New Church schools. They generally aren’t money makers for the Church. Teaching and upholding new Church values is difficult. So why do we bother? Because of VESSELS! New Church education is all about providing appropriate vessels for our children so that they can learn most effectively. Also, children themselves are vessels and designed to receive input. Their minds are like dry sponges waiting to soak up anything that they hear. And that is why New Church education becomes so vitally important. | By Rt. Rev. Bradley D. Worship Service: Family (may include music) - September 19, 2021
Throughout the Old Testament, the Amalekites are a persistent enemy of the children of Israel. They were desert nomads who hid in the mountains and chose to attack and prey upon people when they were the most vulnerable. This is why they were an enemy that the Lord said should be blotted out completely and utterly destroyed. We will look at how we can prepare ourselves to fight against such a ruthless enemy. | By Rt. Worship Service: Sermon only - September 19, 2021
Throughout the Old Testament, the Amalekites are a persistent enemy of the children of Israel. They were desert nomads who hid in the mountains and chose to attack and prey upon people when they were the most vulnerable. They represent in us the "falsity arising from interior evil" which remains hidden and only seeks to confuse and entrap us in our weakest states. That is is why they were an enemy that the Lord said should be blotted out completely and utterly destroyed. We will look at how we can prepare ourselves to fight against such a ruthless enemy. | By Rt. Rev. Bradley D. Heinrichs | Bryn Athyn CathedralChoosing Sides

A theme throughout the Word is that the Lord continually urges the people to choose whether they will follow Him or not. A very real human tendency in all of us is to make this choice a whole lot more complicated than it needs to be; however, it is really a simple choice to make. We will be able to witness a young adult's confession of faith at the beginning of the service to demonstrate that she is choosing to service the Lord. | By Rt. Rev. Bradley D. A theme throughout the Word is that the Lord continually urges the people to choose whether they will follow Him or not. A very real human tendency in all of us is to make this choice a whole lot more complicated than it needs to be; however, it is really a simple choice to make. In many ways after you strip away all of the shades of gray, it really becomes a binary decision. Understanding the simplicity of choosing a side can often help to strengthen our commitment to serving the Lord. | By Rt. Rev. Bradley D. Worship Service: Family (may include music) - August 02, 2020
Historically in the New Church there has been a lot of emphasis placed on the importance of implanting remains in our children. However, many parents often wonder if they are doing enough. We'll take a look at all the things the Lord does to ensure that every child has remains implanted and how we can cooperate with the Lord to make His job easier. | By Rt. Rev. Bradley D. Historically in the New Church there has been a lot of emphasis placed on the importance of implanting remains in our children. However, many parents often wonder if they are doing enough. After witnessing a baptism, we will take the opportunity to reflect on how the promises made at a child's baptism by the parents help the Lord to more easily implant those vital remains in the child. | By Rt. All three of the commanded feasts had to do with a form of giving thanks. The first feast was the "feast of Unleavened Bread". The second feast was the "Feast of Weeks" which occurred when the first fruits of wheat were ready to harvest. And the third feast was the "Feast of Ingathering' at the years end. The missing discipline in today's culture. Can we do anything to help raise an awareness of this God given ability that each person is supposed to be utilizing? | By Rt. Rev. Bradley D. Heinrichs | Bryn Athyn CathedralUnity in Worship
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - October 13, 2019
This Sunday we will talk about having unity in worship. The General Church has congregations all around the world, with people of various cultures and backgrounds. How do we remain unified in a way that makes us all feel part of the same Church, and how can we come together in worship and be lifted up by the Lord? In contrast, what are the things that cause us to feel at odds with each other, and feel that we are not all part of the same Church? As always, the Lord has the answers for us! | By Rt. Rev.
