Worship Service: Family (may include music) - August 21, 2022
1st Lesson: Gen 15:7-11; Matt 13:3-8, 31-34 2nd Lesson: AC 3219 Talk: “Birds correspond to thoughts” (Text: Psalm 84:3) | By Rev. Andrew J. Heilman | Kempton, PALet Your Light Shine
Worship Service: Family (may include music) - August 14, 2022
Can a person really "shine?" If so, what is it in us that shines and why would the Lord ask us to do this? Who benefits? We will be exploring the difference between "hiding" our light and letting it shine before others, and how the former is actually a disservice to our neighbor while the latter is an expression of love and gratitude, an expression of charity. | By Rev. Derek P. Elphick | Bryn Athyn CathedralShine
Worship Service: Sermon only - August 14, 2022
Moses' face was said to have "shone" when he came down from Mount Sinai with the second set of tablets (Ex. 34:29). It was such a startling moment for Aaron and the children of Israel that they were afraid to come near him. We talk about a person's face "shining" or "beaming" (and how pleasant that is) but in the spiritual world this happens quite literally (see TC 209). The Lord wants us to shine, not simply for our own wellbeing and happiness, but for the sake of our neighbor too. We will be exploring why it is that our friends, neighbors and family need to see us shine. | By Rev. Derek P. Elphick | Bryn Athyn CathedralPeople Need People
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - August 14, 2022
The Teachings of the New Church assert that "People are not born for their own sake; they are born for the sake of others." Our lives are intricately tied up in the lives of those around us, and in fact, for better or worse, we cannot help but be defined by the people we come into contact with. No one can truly live isolated from others. | By Rev. Joel C Glenn | Westville, RSABuilding Our House on the Rock
Worship Service: Informal Family - August 14, 2022
The Lord told a parable comparing someone who built their house on sand, which then fell during a storm, versus someone who built their house on the rock, which then withstood the storm. What does it mean for us to spiritually build our houses on the rock? | By Rev. Solomon J. Keal | Bryn Athyn Heilman HallReacting Well to Judgement

Worship Service: Informal Family - August 07, 2022
In 1 Samuel 8 the people asked Samuel to give them a king like the other nations. The Lord warned the people about the downsides of having a king, but they didn’t listen, so He told Samuel to give them what they wanted. What does this symbolize in our spiritual lives? | By Rev. Worship Service: Family (may include music) - August 07, 2022
Sharing is hard - for children and also for adults. When we can remember all that the Lord has given us, it can help us to loosen our grip on what we have and feel less threatened by what the Lord has given to other people. | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith | Bryn Athyn CathedralBreaking Bread
Worship Service: Sermon only - August 07, 2022
As preparation for taking the Lord's Holy Supper, we will be talking about the significance of breaking bread and sharing it. Particularly in Western culture, there can be a lot of emphasis on individuality and working on our individual lives but the Lord's goal for us is to be part of a larger whole in which we give and receive freely. How can we work towards that goal? | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith | Bryn Athyn CathedralTrusting in the Lord

1st Lesson: Exodus 16:14-21 Talk: “Whom Do You Trust” 2nd Lesson: Arcana Coelestia 2493 Sermon: “Daily Bread” | By Rev. Stephen D. Cole | Kempton, PAThe Gift of Freedom
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - August 07, 2022
What does it feel like to have your freedom taken away? We all crave freedom. We all want to be able to act with no restrictions. But freedom isn’t actually about being allowed to do anything and everything; it is about being allowed to do the things that you love. Regardless of what other restrictions may be imposed on us, if we can find what we love, and find a way to act on it, then we will be truly free. | By Rev. Joel C Glenn | Westville, RSAFinding Meaning
Worship Service: Informal Family - July 31, 2022
Finding a purpose in life is one thing: Get yourself a goal and pursue that goal. But finding meaning and feeling like what we do matters is a whole different matter. The rich man in Matthew wanted eternal life but felt he was lacking something. Join us this Sunday as we explore what the rich man was lacking, and how we can “find” meaning in EVERYTHING we do. | By Rev. Jeffrey Smith | Bryn Athyn Heilman HallThe Pearl of Great Price

Worship Service: Family (may include music) - July 31, 2022
John had followed Jesus for three years. But now John was an old man living on the Island of Patmos. And here the Lord appeared to John in a totally new way. John heard a loud voice and he turned to see the Lord standing in the midst of seven golden lamp stands. We will see what this is like in our lives when we hear the voice of the Lord calling us. | By Rt. Rev. Thomas L. Kline | Bryn Athyn CathedralJohn's Vision of the Lord
Worship Service: Sermon only - July 31, 2022
When John saw the Lord appearing before him on the Isle of Patmos, he was able to see and behold the very essence of God. John's vision is a vision that each of us is to behold as we come to see Him revealed in His Second Coming. This first chapter in the book of Revelation describes the miracle that each of us is to experience in our relationship with the Lord. | By Rt. Rev. Thomas L. 1st Lesson: Genesis 1:1; Psalm 146:5, 6; Isaiah 44:24, 45:12; Jeremiah 51:15; Revelation 4:11 2nd Lesson: True Christian Religion 76 Talk: “God the Creator” | By Rev. Brett D. Buick | Kempton, PADo This in Remembrance of the Lord
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - July 31, 2022
At the Last Supper, having shared bread and wine with His disciples, the Lord commanded, “Do this in remembrance of Me.” Holy Supper is an opportunity to remember the Lord: to remember what He did for us in giving His life; to remember the Divine Love that He shares with us; to remember the Divine Wisdom that inspires us. But remembering the Lord is not just a matter of thought; it is a matter of doing what He commands us. The best way to “remember” the Lord is to actively follow His teachings. | By Rev. Joel C Glenn | Westville, RSATruth or Bias
Worship Service: Informal Family - July 24, 2022
The Lord’s Word is full of truth given to us to make our lives, and the world, better. How is it that two people can go to Word and still disagree? How do people take these beautiful teachings and use them to cause harm? We all know how easy it can be to listen and learn with a bias that holds us back from a better understanding. What does the Word teach us about bias, its effects, and how to overcome it?" | By Rev. Richard M. Glenn | Bryn Athyn Heilman Hall
