Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - July 24, 2022
When Moses ascended Mt. Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments, the Children of Israel were left to wonder what had become of him. As the days dragged into weeks, they lost trust in both him and the Lord, and so turned to worship a golden idol. When we feel abandoned by the Lord, with no sense of His deep presence, we also turn to our own idols, idols of pleasure or comfort. This Sunday we’ll look at how to notice this tendency in ourselves and push to reconnect with the Lord when He seems absent. | By Rev. Joel C Glenn | Westville, RSAWait on the Lord

Jonah was sent to offer a second chance to people who, in his opinion, didn’t deserve one. How can we overcome grudges to serve even people we don’t get along with? | By Rev. Coleman S. Glenn | Bryn Athyn Heilman Hall"Go Forward"
Worship Service: Family (may include music) - July 17, 2022
Even though the command to "go forward" seemed like certain doom, the Israelites did it anyway and the Red Sea was miraculously parted. But as the Israelites crossed the dry seabed, they looked back in horror to discover Pharoah's army driving towards them in chariots, but then the wheels of the chariots fell off! That changed everything. We will consider the spiritual significance of "wheels" and how they symbolize the power to go forward. | By Rev. Derek P. Elphick | Bryn Athyn CathedralGot Momentum?
Worship Service: Sermon only - July 17, 2022
When we have momentum in our lives, things go well, when we lose momentum, we get frustrated and lost. In the account of the Red Sea Crossing (Exodus 14) we learn how the Lord "troubled" the Egyptian army causing the wheels of their war chariots to fall off. We will consider how the Lord "fights" for us (v 25) by cutting off our negative momentum and replacing it with true, lasting momentum, the kind that carries us forward to happier, peaceful states. | By Rev. Derek P. Elphick | Bryn Athyn CathedralMaking Faith Our Own
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - July 17, 2022
When you were born you knew nothing about the world and how it worked; nor did you know anything about the Lord or spiritual life. These were things that had to be taught to you, from a young age, both through education and through the examples set by the people around you. As you matured your faith became your own. No longer did you have to rely on others: you could enter into an adult relationship with the Lord and an adult understanding of spiritual life. Yet as simple as that sounds, we can all stand to reflect on how much of our faith is really our own, and how much work still needs to be done to move past what we were taught and live our faith for ourselves. | By Rev. Worship Service: Informal Family - July 10, 2022
David had been anointed as the next king, but Saul was trying to kill him, and so David had to leave his wife Michal, and his best friend Jonathan, to run away and hide (1 Samuel 20). During this time David wrote many psalms about trusting in God. How can this story about David help us to trust in God as well when things aren’t going the way we want them to? | By Rev. Solomon J. Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - July 10, 2022
What is the Lord’s? In a broad sense all things are the Lord’s: He created and sustains everything in the universe. Yet we also feel as if we are our own masters. There is an innate sense that what goes on in our minds and hearts is ours and ours alone. Yet even here all that is good and true belongs to the Lord. Miraculously, when we acknowledge that truth and live it, we can actually feel more, not less, ourselves. | By Rev. Joel C Glenn | Westville, RSAStronger Through Adversity

With a clear and stark warning, the Lord places Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, telling them that if they eat of the tree of knowledge and evil, that they will die. They do eat of it. They don't die. Did God break His own rules? Or did He break ours? | By Rev. Charles E. Blair | Bryn Athyn CathedralDoes God Break God's Own Rules?

Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - July 03, 2022
The Gospel of John tells a story of the disciples struggling all night fishing and catching nothing. In the morning the Lord appeared and told them to cast the night on the right side of the boat; the result is an incredible intake of fish. Fishing off the one side represents coming from a a purely intellectual viewpoint; switching to the other side represents switching to a more loving viewpoint. When we get stuck in our heads, life just doesn't work as well. Even if we know all the "right" things to say and do, pure knowledge only gets us so far. When we find ourselves struggling like this, the Lord urges us to shift gears and draw not only on the head but also the heart. It is when we come from love that life begins to work in new and amazing ways. Our service this Sunday will be led by Warwick Schuurman. Many thanks to Warwick! | By Rev. Erik J. Buss | Westville, RSALet My People Go!
Worship Service: Informal Family - July 03, 2022
Freedom is the greatest gift we receive from the Lord, and the greatest gift we can give each other. When the people of Israel were slaves in Egypt the Lord sent Moses to tell the king, “Let My people go!” (Exodus 3-11). Love must be freely given. “As freedom is a matter of love, it is the life of everyone.” (Secrets of Heaven 2873) | By Rev. John L. Odhner | Bryn Athyn Heilman HallThe Rich Man and Lazarus

Worship Service: Informal Family - June 26, 2022
The Lord tells us that when we judge other people it is like trying to get a tiny speck out of their eye, while we have a plank in our own. The Word also tells we have to make judgements sometimes. Are we supposed to judge others or not? What kinds of judgements fit with living a charitable life, and which don't? | By Rev. Richard M. Glenn | Bryn Athyn Heilman HallFriendship
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - June 26, 2022
Friendship is one of the core experiences of being human. We all need, and hopefully have, friends. But how often do we think of our friendship with the Lord? It is an important part of our relationship with Him, and can also inform the many friendships we have with others. Our service this Sunday will be led by Lance Mansfield. Many thanks to Lance! | By Rt. Rev. Bradley D. Heinrichs | Westville, RSA
