Where are you coming from and where are you going?
Worship Service: Informal Family - March 17, 2019
Here we look at the story of Hagar in the wilderness (Genesis 16). We all get lost at times, sometimes painfully so. How does the Lord help us find our way? How does He help us find ourselves again? His way of leading us back to hope and purpose can be different from what we expect. | By Rev. Erik J. Buss | Bryn Athyn Heilman HallThe Future

In these times of fear and uncertainty, what can we learn from The Lord about hope, and how can we keep hope alive? | By Rev. Michael D. Gladish | Mitchellville, MDGod's Goals For Your Happiness
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - February 03, 2019
God definitely wants us to be happy, but it doesn't always feel like it. More often than not there seems to be a tension between what we want to do and what God asks us to do. The Lord understands that we go through this and so He draws our attention to the happiness that lies within keeping His commandments: "Happy are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven," as just one example. Nor is this promised happiness only in the distant future. If we know what to look for, we can see in the moment how denying ourselves and following the Lord aligns perfectly with our own happiness. | By Rev. Joel C Glenn | Westville, RSAYou Crown the Year with Goodness
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - December 30, 2018
The Lord crowns our year with goodness. If we look, we can see the good the Lord has done for us in the last year. His goodness encircles our life and tops it off. The goodness drops as richness of life from heaven. | By Rev. Derrick Lumsden | Sarver, PAWhy God Was Born As A Human

Worship Service: Informal Family - September 23, 2018
When building the Tabernacle, Moses called for all the people to contribute whatever materials they could offer (Exodus 35). The Tabernacle took form because of these freewill offerings. How does the construction of the Tabernacle represent the way community works in our lives? The song from the service "A Dwelling Place for You" is included as Track # 2 with permission of the composer, John Odhner, and the singers. | By Rev. Solomon J. Keal | Bryn Athyn Heilman HallAm I Good Enough?
Worship Service: Informal Family - August 26, 2018
This is a question many of us ask. We'll be looking at it as we explore the Creation story. What is good enough? What does the Lord think is good enough? | By Rev. Erik J. Buss | Bryn Athyn Heilman HallFilling with Oil
Worship Service: Informal Family - August 12, 2018
A widow asked Elisha for help. She was afraid she would lose her sons because of debts she had. Elisha told her to gather many pots and jars. Then she was to pour oil into them from the small jar she had. When we are feeling empty and concerned for future happiness sometimes the best thing to do is recognize some area of life into which you can put caring and attention. | By Rev. Eric H. Carswell | Bryn Athyn Heilman HallFinding Heaven in Daily Life
Worship Service: Informal Family - July 29, 2018
Where are angels? Can our eyes be open to seeing angels around us? Where have you had a heavenly experience in your daily life? [Elisha] answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” (2 Kings 6:16) | By Rev. John L. Odhner | Bryn Athyn Heilman HallBuilding Up to New Church Day: Part 2 - Truth Strengthening Love
In this part of our 3-Part series, we think about how the love for being a good and useful person that we want to be in our hearts, needs to be coupled with the true ideas that the Lord teaches us in His Word about what a loving life looks like. | By Rev. Garry B. Walsh | Phoenix, AZBuilding Up to New Church Day: Part 1 - Motivated by Goodness
In Part 1 of this 3-Part series we consider how the Lord our Heavenly Father is love itself. He wants to motivate us with His love so that we will not only strive, but succeed in being a good and loving person. | By Rev. Garry B. Walsh | Phoenix, AZContent With Your Lot
Worship Service: Informal Family - June 03, 2018
So often we are tempted to long for more than we have. Yet anxiety and sadness often result when we compare ourselves to others and consider ourselves lacking. The Lord wants us instead to be content, and reminds us that the happiest of people are those whose focus is on spiritual, rather than natural, riches. | By Rt. Rev. Peter M. Buss, Jr. | Bryn Athyn Heilman HallThe Lord's Prayer: Part 6 - The Kingdom and the Power and the Glory, Forever. Amen.
Here in the final part of our 6-Part series exploring the Lord's Prayer, we reflect upon what it is that we are asked to hope for from the Lord, Our Heavenly Father. We ask that we might be brought closer to His kingdom, be transformed by His power, and awakened by His incredible glory. | By Rev. Garry B. Walsh | Phoenix, AZThe Lord's Prayer: Part 3 - Our Daily Bread
Here in Part 3 of our series reflecting on the Lord's Prayer, we think about how asking for our daily bread is much more than asking for the things that sustain our bodies. It is asking for the things that sustain our soul, both today and for eternity. | By Rev. Garry B. Walsh | Phoenix, AZThe Lord's Prayer: Part 2 - Thy Will be Done
In Part 2 of our series exploring the meaning of the Lord's Prayer, we think about how His will is that we might be part of His kingdom. Those in His kingdom enjoy happiness because they keep His commandments from a spirit of love to Him and toward their neighbors. | By Rev. Garry B. Walsh | Phoenix, AZHealing Torment - Jesus' Healing Miracles: Part 5 of 6
In this part of the series on 'Jesus' Healing Miracles', we consider the healing of the centurion's servant. We notice that it was the centurion's faith, not the sick man's that opened the door for his healing. The story is a sign of the Lord healing the natural from the spiritual, and of how we can help make the spiritual realm a place of ever more healing. | By Rev. Garry B. Walsh | Phoenix, AZHealing Physical Challenges - Jesus' Healing Miracles: Part 4 of 6
Jesus' healing of the paralyzed man (Luke 5:17-26) is one example of how a person's faith opened the door for them to receive healing. Do we have faith, not so much in whether the Lord can heal us physically, but whether He can heal our spirit of the types of things that interfere with our ability to experience heaven? | By Rev. Garry B. Walsh | Phoenix, AZHealing Leprosy - Jesus' Healing Miracles Series: Part 3 of 6
We are taught that Jesus' healing of people suffering from leprosy, is symbolic of his healing every person who comes to Him, acknowledging that they are falling short of living up to His standards as they understand them. New Church teachings say that leprosy symbolizes profanation. We profane whenever we mingle something holy with something unholy. | By Rev. Garry B. Walsh | Phoenix, AZThe Lord is A Very Present Help in Trouble
Worship Service: Informal Family - December 03, 2017
The Lord came into the world in a very challenging time to help the human race through its troubles, and to be present with each of us through trying times. | By Rev. John L. Odhner | Bryn Athyn Heilman HallFrom Seedtime To Harvest - What Is Stunting My Spiritual Growth?
Worship Service: Sermon only - October 22, 2017
There are many places in the Scriptures where the Lord compares the process of spiritual growth to the growing of a seed. This week's inspiration looks at three things that may be preventing this seed from growing. Why does my faith, my love for the Lord and my spiritual life in general seem to be wilting away? | By Rev. Matthew L. Genzlinger | West Concord, MAA Residue In The Land
Worship Service: Sermon only - October 08, 2017
What exactly are "remains?" "Remains" are all the states of good and truth that the Lord implants within us during the course of our entire life. We have the choice to either cover these remains over, or allow the Lord to draw them forth. | By Rev. Matthew L. Genzlinger | West Concord, MAFinding Contentment
Worship Service: Sermon only - September 24, 2017
"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." (Matthew 6:33) | By Rev. Erik J. Buss | Bryn Athyn CathedralJonah, Part 4 - Right to be Angry?
Worship Service: Informal Family - August 27, 2017
The Lord asks us to look at the source and value of our anger. It is not wrong to be angry, but there are different kinds of anger and we are responsible to evaluate our anger and act appropriately. | By Rev. Derrick Lumsden | Sarver, PALooking for the Good in People
Worship Service: Informal Family - August 20, 2017
We as a human race are often stuck in the evil of hatred and violence. In Genesis chapter 18, Abraham pleads with the Lord, and asks Him if He would still destroy Sodom even if there were just a few good people there. The Lord says He would spare the city if there were just a few good people there. This story describes how desperately the Lord wants the whole human race to be rescued from “Sodom” (representing the evil of hatred and violence) and to get to heaven. The Lord sets an example for how we too can look for even the smallest amount of goodness in other people. | By Rev. Solomon J. Keal | Bryn Athyn Heilman Hall
