Hope in the Lord's Mercy
Worship Service: Sermon only - April 24, 2022
Have you ever lost hope? Hope is vital to the human condition, and it is tied very directly to the Lord's mercy and care for each one of us, so it is wise to maintain hope. The hells love for us to lose all hope and to think that we are beyond help, so it is important for us to remember to trust in the sure promise of the mercy of the Lord! But is mere hope in the Lord's mercy without action on our part enough to save us? Receiving mercy from the Lord requires some positive action on our part. Hoping in pure mercy apart from means in the long run will demoralize us, but hoping in the Lord's Word will continually rejuvenate us in our times of doubt. | By Rt. Rev. Bradley D. Heinrichs | Bryn Athyn CathedralThe Disciple Whom Jesus Loved
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - April 24, 2022
In the Gospel of John there are a number of intriguing stories about what Jesus and the disciples did after the Lord’s resurrection. When I preached about this four years ago I focused on the role and significance of Peter (read or listen to that here); this year I want to focus on John. John is called “the disciple whom Jesus loved” and he played a crucial role in the development of the Christian Church. In us he represents a crucial part of our spiritual development as Christians. What does he represent? Come and see. | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith | Westville, RSAMemorial Service for Louise D. Stevens

Worship Service: Informal Family - April 24, 2022
The name Israel means “wrestling with God.” That name says something about the quality of faith. With faith there are forms of wrestling that are healthy that contribute to growth in wisdom and love, and there are forms of wrestling that are unhealthy that can tear one another apart. We will focus on the healthy wrestling that leads to finding spiritual solutions to life’s toughest problems. | By Rt. Rev. David H. Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - April 17, 2022
Easter is of course about the Lord’s Resurrection after His Crucifixion. But just because the Lord rose and lived again does not mean that we ourselves feel His living presence within ourselves. There is a process of being led to Him; it is a process that involves both the head and the heart, a process that involves grief and joy, faith and doubt. This Easter Sunday we will explore what the Gospel of John has to tell us about finding the Risen Lord in our own lives. | By Rev. Joel C Glenn | Westville, RSAHe Rose Again in the Morning

Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - April 10, 2022
In the Gospel of John, Palm Sunday is described in the context of the miracle of raising Lazarus from the dead. There were those who knew of this miracle and hated the Lord for it; there were those who knew of it but kept quiet from fear; and there were those who knew of it and so joyfully confessed the Lord as their king. It was this last group that welcomed Jesus with palm branches. This Sunday we will explore how we too can bear witness to the Lord and rejoice in His coming. | By Rev. When the Lord raised Lazarus from the dead He showed He had all power, even power over life and death. He also showed that in using his power, He always acts from love and for love. We can't do everything the Lord can do but the Lord gives us the power to do good when we follow the path the Lord modelled for us. (John 11) | By Rev. Barry C. Halterman | Bryn Athyn CathedralJesus Wept: The Human Side of God
Worship Service: Sermon only - April 03, 2022
Throughout the history of religion, God's various qualities have been depicted in various ways in the many different cultures across the globe. In coming on earth as Jesus Christ, the Lord showed us the crucial missing element: God's Humanity. Connecting with God as a Divine Human Being changed the world and it can change us. Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - April 03, 2022
We see so much abuse of power in the world—countless examples of people using their influence on other people in harmful ways. But what does legitimate authority look like? What sort of claims to authority by other people should we reject and resist and what ones should we comply with? And what kind of authority over other people should we aspire to? Let’s see what we can learn about this from the One who is all-powerful. | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith | Westville, RSAThe Temptations of Jesus

Have you ever wondered why it is important to read the Word? What can it do for you, and the angels? And did you realize that here is an area where you can do something better than your parents ever can? | By Rt. Rev. Brian W. Keith | Bryn Athyn CathedralReading the Word
Worship Service: Sermon only - March 27, 2022
We've heard how important it is for us to read the Word on a regular basis. But what does it actually do - for the angels and for us? And how can this be a useful endeavor even if our eyesight is not so crisp, or we feel that there is not much use we can do for others? | By Rt. Rev. Brian W. The internal sense of the story of Cain and Abel reflects the reality that religious knowledge can be both a source of death and a source of life. Carswell | Bryn Athyn Heilman HallEven the Wind and Sea Obey Him
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - March 27, 2022
The disciples once found themselves in the midst of a terrible storm, out on the water in a little boat. The boat was sinking and they thought they were going to die until Jesus stood up and rebuked the wind and the sea and suddenly there was calm. This Sunday we will reflect on this story and what it can teach us about how the Lord can help us to find peace in the midst of the storms that we encounter in our lives. | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith | Westville, RSA
