Easter Family Service - Talk Title - Running to Report the LORD'S Resurrection | By Rev. Brett D. Buick | Kempton, PAAn End and a Beginning
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - April 01, 2018
Jesus mission in life was both incomprehensible massive and truly simple: to save all people, for all time, from the threat of hell. Throughout His life He accomplished this mission by fighting against and overcoming every last evil impulse that hell could throw at Him. By the end of His life, on the cross, He had so completely overcome hell that nothing of it remained in Him. On Easter Sunday we celebrate this victory because of what it means for us today: just as Jesus overcome hell in His own life, He can overcome every bit of hell that shows up in ours. | By Rev. Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight. (Luke 24:30-31) | By Rev. Eric H. Carswell | Bryn Athyn CathedralEaster Message - 2018
This Easter message reflects on the Lord's incredible sacrifices throughout His life in the world, culminating in His physical death upon the cross and resurrection on the third day. He went, as He says in John 14, "to prepare a place for us." What might we be willing to sacrifice in order to be prepared to, one day, be received into His heavenly kingdom? | By Rev. Garry B. Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - March 25, 2018
This Sunday is Palm Sunday and the last Sunday of our Practicing Forgiveness programme. Throughout these past few weeks we've talked about the difference that forgiveness can make - in an individual's life and in society in general. We understand the before picture and we like the after picture but how do we get from one to the other? This Sunday we'll try to understand more of what comes in between in the process of being transformed by forgiveness. The sermon was written by John L. Odhner, read by Malcolm Smith. | By Rev. Worship Service: Sermon only - April 30, 2017
When the Lord suddenly appeared in the room with His disciples on the evening of Easter Sunday, His first words to them were, "Peace be with you." New Church teachings help us to understand that the risen Lord was Peace itself. Therefore, He was saying to, not only His disciples, but all people, "I am Peace, and I am with you!" | By Rev. Worship Service: Sermon only - April 16, 2017
When the time was right, the Lord intervened in the most perfect way to ensure that humanity's pathway to Him would forever remain open. He took on a mortal body, allowed it to be crucified, and rose again on the third day. He glorified His body, meaning that the natural was transformed and became Divine. In doing this, the Lord ensured that He had the last tool that He needed to ensure that all people could be saved. Humanity continues to exist, and the way to heaven remains open, because the Lord came into the world. We can say that these things exist because of Easter. | By Rev. Garry B. The story of the Lord rising from the tomb on Easter morning gives us a wonderful picture of the reality of life after death. But this reality is not always easy to believe in. What are the various “deaths” that we experience in our lives, and how can the Easter story give us faith and hope that there will be “life” after them? | By Rev. Solomon J. Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - April 16, 2017
Failure is an option. In fact, it's inevitable. From our point of view anyway. If the Lord hadn't "failed" the expectations of His followers, He never would have achieved His goals. He needed to face hell, be crucified, and die in order to achieve the greater victory of the resurrection. We cannot avoid the apparent failures that come our way. We can, however, trust that in letting us fail the Lord has a greater plan for us, and if we are willing we will find something better than any of our expectations. | By Rev. Joel C Glenn | Westville, RSA
