Ears to Hear
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - May 15, 2016
The parable of the sower ends with the challenge to hear. We hear with our hearts, and we have to be willing to love what the Lord says is good. We learn to love what the Lord says by living out His Word. | By Rev. Derrick Lumsden | Sarver, PASpiritual Principles for Voting
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - April 24, 2016
As we consider who to elect to offices in our government, we can look to the Lord's teachings to guide us. The Lord tells us there are three qualities to look for in an organizational leader: skilled in the Law, wise, and God Fearing. He also provides us principles by which to prioritize our choice of policy or platform planks: spirituality/justice, morality, economics. If we look to the Lord Jesus Christ and allow Him to guide our choices of leaders, our country will be able to be lead and healed by Him. | By Rev. Derrick Lumsden | Sarver, PAWho Does Not Believe Will Be Condemned
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - March 27, 2016
This year, as we celebrate Easter, we are focusing on the Gospel Mark. One of the features of the account from Mark is a strong emphasis on belief—people who believe that Jesus has risen, people who do not, what will happen to those that do and do not believe. This Sunday will be an opportunity for each person to reflect on what they believe about Jesus and the Easter story and how the Lord can strengthen each person’s belief. | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith | Westville, RSAWho Can Celebrate The Passover?
Worship Service: Sermon only - March 06, 2016
As the Children of Israel were led out of Egypt, the Lord specifically told them who WAS and who WAS NOT allowed to celebrate the Passover. Each of these groups represents a spiritual state in us. Some of these spiritual states allow the Lord to lead us away from hell (Egypt) and towards heaven (Canaan); others prevent this. | By Rev. Matthew L. Genzlinger | Boston, MALiving Faith

Worship Service: Family (may include music) - February 14, 2016
When the Lord began His public ministry He started gathering disciples. He taught them and sent them out to teach others. We can serve the Lord much like the disciples did when we share what we know to be true with others. Hymn "Praise the Lord" replaced by "O Praise Ye the Lord" from the next service because of copyright. | By Rev. Eric H. Carswell | Bryn Athyn CathedralSeeing the Lord in the Word

"No one can be introduced into the church, and formed for heaven, except by means of concepts from the Word, without which a person would not know the way to heaven, and without which the Lord cannot dwell with him." (AE 112:3) | By Rev. Erik J. Buss | Bryn Athyn CathedralOur Spiritual Family

"Whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother."(Mark 3:35) | By Rev. John L. Odhner | Bryn Athyn CathedralThe Philistines Return the Ark
Worship Service: Sermon only - January 24, 2016
Last week we explored the story of the Philistines capturing the ark of the Covenant and the terrible things that happened to them because of it. The Philistines represent a faith that is devoid of love and charity. The terrible things that happened to them represent the spiritual damage that we do to ourselves when we separate faith from charity. This morning we will continue this story and read about how the Philistines eventually chose to return the Ark of the Covenant to its rightful owner - the Children of Israel. The story of how they did this is filled with wonderful representations of how the Lord leads us away from the destructive life of faith alone, and towards a life where faith and charity are conjoined. Three images stand out: 1. The Philistines built a new cart to carry the Ark back to Israel... 2. They made five golden tumors and five golden mice... 3. They yoked two milk cows to the cart... This week reflect on the rich image of how the Philistines returned the Ark of the Covenant to Israel. How is this an image of the Lord inviting us to escape a faith alone existence? How does the Lord lead us to conjoin our faith with a life of love and charity? | By Rev. Matthew L. Genzlinger | West Concord, MAFaith and Rational Understanding: A Troubled Relationship

"But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, 'Indeed you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man's wife.' But Abimelech had not come near her, and he said, 'Lord, will You slay a righteous nation also?'"(Genesis 20:3-4) | By Rev. Eric H. Carswell | Bryn Athyn CathedralRecognizing the Truth

Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - December 27, 2015
Christmas and the new year are opportunities to reevaluate our life and refocus on our priorities. It is easy for us to get distracted and for the most important things in life to get crowded out. To have peace in our life the most important thing we can do is sit at His feet. | By Rev. Derrick Lumsden | Sarver, PAChristmas - The Messier Side of Christmas
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - December 06, 2015
The Lord came to fight for us, to free us from bad ways of thinking and feeling. To accept His freedom, we have to stand against those thoughts and feelings that feel like part of and pierce our own soul. When we fight and die to our old self, the Lord can bring us into peace and good will. | By Rev. Derrick Lumsden | Sarver, PAHeaven - Essence of Heaven
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - November 08, 2015
The Lord Jesus Christ teaches us that heaven is hidden, that heaven is something to wait and be prepared for, and that heaven is within. The New Church teachings add that heaven and hell are known by their delights. Delights are hidden and we have to choose which delights to enjoy so that we can be in heaven and be prepared for eternal life in heaven. | By Rev. Derrick Lumsden | Sarver, PAExperience and Spiritual Life
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - September 27, 2015
Experience is an important part of spiritual life. We need to hold in tension our own experiences and the experience of Divinely Guided experiences called revelation. Learning from our own experience and the experience of others is an essential part of building faith. | By Rev. Derrick Lumsden | Sarver, PAGood News - He Is Risen
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - September 20, 2015
The Lord God Jesus Christ who is Jehovah can help you. He is able to lead you through a process to a new life, a new resurrection of life which can heal your very character. | By Rev. Derrick Lumsden | Sarver, PAGood News - Sacrifice
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - September 13, 2015
The Lord sacrificed His life to bring us closer to the Divine. The details of His death demonstrates the ways people can separate truth from love, humanity from divinity. To follow the Lord and not deny, we have to take an affirmative attitude toward Scripture and ask “How is it true?” rather than “Is it true?” | By Rev. Derrick Lumsden | Sarver, PAThe Demons We Face Along the Way
Worship Service: Sermon only - August 30, 2015
This message reflects on how we all have demons that we need to fight, and how the Lord with His love and power is always there to fight those demons and take them away from us. | By Rev. Garry B. Walsh | Phoenix, AZWeakness and Strength Part 3: After the Battle
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - August 23, 2015
The Gideon story unfortunately doesn’t end with the glorious victory over the Midianites. There’s some confusing, brutal conflict with other Israelites; there’s an execution of two Midianite kings; and then there’s an idol that Gideon makes that people start worshipping. It’s not the kind of story that we like to read and yet, if we want to gain an accurate picture of what is involved in living a spiritual life, it’s important to also look at the uncomfortable reality of what can happen after the times of strength and victory. | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith | Westville, RSAA Tree Planted by the Water
Worship Service: Sermon only - August 23, 2015
"He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, which brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper." (Psalm 1:3) | By Rev. Jeremy F. Simons | Bryn Athyn Cathedral
