The Church as a Mother
Worship Service: Sermon only - May 12, 2019
Then one said to Jesus, "Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You." But He answered and said to the one who told Him, "Who is my mother and who are my brothers?" and He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, Here are My mother and My brothers!" (Matthew 12:50) | By Rev. Eric H. Carswell | Bryn Athyn CathedralThe Hidden Power of the Word
Worship Service: Informal Family - May 05, 2019
The Word isn’t just a confusing blend of worldly stories, laws and ‘begats’ that reflect an ancient people and their past. The Word is an external framework that supports inner, spiritual truths that explain who God is and His inner workings with the universe. Its truths offer great power for protection and healing. We can use this power to see how the Lord constantly works behind the scenes to support us and our spiritual health. | By Rt. Rev. David H. Lindrooth | Bryn Athyn Heilman HallChanging Our Spiritual Landscape
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - May 05, 2019
You can tell a lot about someone by the things and people they surround themselves with. On the one hand, this is because where we choose to put time and effort is a reflection of what we value. On the other hand, it is also because we are shaped by our environments: we become like what we are surrounded by. This statement is true spiritually. If we surround ourselves with heavenly influences, we will become heavenly. If we surround ourselves with hellish influences, we will become hellish. Where and how we spend our time is not just a matter of personal preference. It is a matter of choosing who we will become. | By Rev. Joel C Glenn | Westville, RSAAre You A Fish?

Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - May 05, 2019
Aiming for Heaven. How much fun is it to aim for ideals in a cynical time? Drawing on the Jacob story we will explore the tension of working practically at a lower level while still holding the highest goals of heaven in our sight. Three weeks ago we looked at Peter's Doubt before Easter, and this week we look at Thomas' Doubt after Easter (John 20:19-29). Thomas had a hard time believing that the Lord had risen, because he didn't get to see or touch the Lord. Can we believe in things we can’t see? Should we believe in things we can't see? | By Rev. John L. Odhner | Bryn Athyn Heilman HallThe Movement of Easter, Part 2: Baptise and Teach
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - April 28, 2019
Last week we read about the Lord commanding His disciples to go forth and make disciples of all nations and we talked about what He is asking of us in that command. The Lord didn’t just give them that general command; He also told them specifically to baptise people into the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and to teach them to keep all the things that He had commanded them. Are we all meant to baptise people? Why did the Lord talk about the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit? Are we all meant to teach other people what the Lord commanded? If we want to take this command of the Lord’s seriously, then we need to really think this through. | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith | Westville, RSAThe Lord Appearing to Us

"All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." On Easter morning the angel said: “He is risen! He is not here” (Mark 16:6). What does it mean for the Lord to be “risen” in our lives? Where do we sometimes look for the Lord, and where should we be looking instead? | By Rev. Solomon J. Keal | Bryn Athyn Heilman HallEaster Sunrise - He Rises Daily

The Resurrection is the miracle of New Life which shows us the Lord, and which He performs in our hearts and minds. | By Rev. Derrick Lumsden | Sarver, PAEaster - He Came to Show Us God
Worship Service: Informal Family - April 21, 2019
The Lord made God visible to us. Lord's resurrection both shows us that Jesus is God and made Himself fully united with God. By being fully united with God He not only shows us God but makes himself the way to God. | By Rev. Derrick Lumsden | Sarver, PAThe Movement of Easter, Part 1: Go Forth and Make Disciples
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - April 21, 2019
There is a lot of movement in the story of the morning of the Lord’s resurrection. Words like go, come, went, ran are used 18 times in the last chapter of Matthew and almost two-thirds of the verses contain some sort of movement. Women go to the tomb, they are told to go and tell the disciples to go to another place. When the disciples go to that place, the Lord tells them to go out to all nations and make disciples, baptise, and teach. What movement does the Lord want from us? It’s easy to celebrate Easter, eat a few too many chocolates, and go back to normal life without anything having changed. Where does the Lord want us to go this Easter and how do we get up and do it? | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith | Westville, RSARecognizing the Lord
