[T]he Lord governs all things, even the most specific, through the truth that goes forth from Himself, not in the way a king governs in the world, but in the way God does so in heaven and over all creation. A king in the world takes only overall care of a country, while his chief ministers and officials take care of matters in particular. It is otherwise with God. God sees all things, knows all things from eternity, provides all things into eternity, and from Himself maintains all things in their order; from which it is clear that the Lord takes not only overall care but also particular and individual care of all things, unlike a king in the world. His regulation of things is achieved directly by means of God's truth that is going forth from Himself and also indirectly by means of heaven. Yet the indirect regulation by means of heaven is also tantamount to direct regulation by Him; for what comes from heaven comes by way of heaven from Him. This the angels in heaven not merely know to be so; they also perceive it within themselves. Arcana Coelestia 8717:2 | By Rev. Dr Andrew M. Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - October 10, 2010
Week 2 of 7 The spiritual growth series, "Pause: Make Space for God" brings some breathing room back into our day, giving us a chance to consciously renew and strengthen our relationship with God. This program asks us to designate a portion of time every day to explore the Bible and listen for God's messages, to ask meaningful questions and to experience the presence of the Lord in a new and powerful way. Each week explores Biblical answers to a new topic: Week 1-How Does God Speak to Me? Week 2-Why Did God Create Me? Week 3-Who is Jesus and How Does He Relate to My Life? Week 4-How Does the Lord Work in My Life? Week 5- What Does the Lord Want from Me? Week 6-How Do I Follow the Lord? Week 7-How Does the Lord Want Me to Serve Others? Week 2 Focus: Why Did God Create Me? Featured Story: Vine and Branches (John 15) Most of us have wondered at some point, "Why am I here, and what is the purpose of the universe?" Many people believe that "God is love." What does this imply about why He created us? What does the Bible say about this question? What is God's plan for our lives? | By Rev. David C. Worship Service: Children & Adult - May 23, 2010
The Lord sends us strength and the power to persevere. Part Seven of Living Courageously, the Story of Elijah Quotes: Doctrine teaches the truth that no one is to be hated, for anyone who hates another kills him every moment. In his earliest years a person scarcely recognizes the truth of this, but as he grows older, if he is being reformed, he places it among those matters of doctrine which ought to be matters of life. At length he lives according to that truth, in which case he no longer thinks from doctrine but acts from life. When that happens this truth of doctrine is raised up from the natural mind. In fact it is separated from the natural mind, and is implanted within good in the rational [or spiritual] mind. Once this has happened he no longer permits the natural part of him to voice any doubt about it by means of any captious argument existing there. In fact he does not allow the natural mind to reason against it at all. (Heavenly Secrets #3182) | By Rev. Thomas H. Rose | Ivyland New Church, PAFairness
