Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - January 14, 2018
At this time of year we're often taking stock of who we are and where we are in our lives and thinking about what we might need to do to improve our lives. This Sunday and next we will be exploring the somewhat obscure but very relevant story in the book of Haggai of the Children of Israel being called to rebuild the house of the Lord and what it can teach us about the process of trying to do better about prioritising the Lord in our lives. | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith | Westville, RSAPaying Attention to What Works
Worship Service: Family (may include music) - January 14, 2018
The Lord has given each of us a mind that can be good at making decisions but those decisions can be quite flawed. He works with us each moment of our life trying to lead us to see the possibility of better choices in the future. This requires us to recognize that sometimes change is needed . The opening hymn and the offertory have been replaced by hymns from a later service, because the original music is copyright protected. Lori & John Odhner hold copyright on "You Are the Vine". Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said: “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” As we mark Dr. King's birthday this weekend we discuss the meaning of this quote by comparing it with Isaiah's message to King Hezekiah, that the shadow on his sundial would move back ten degrees. | By Rev. | By Michael Ferrell | Mitchellville, MDForgiveness as Opportunity
Worship Service: Informal Family - January 07, 2018
No matter what you have done or will do in your life, the Lord has already forgiven you. So what's the point of thinking about the Lord's forgiveness? He has already given it to us. That does not mean we have it yet though. The Lord's forgiveness comes in the form of never-ending opportunities to repent. It is up to us to take advantage of those opportunities and make changes. That is how we take in the Lord's forgiveness. | By Rev. Joel C Glenn | Westville, RSAPossibilities Moving Forward

The final portion of the Christmas story describes how Joseph, Mary and the young Child Jesus traveled from Bethlehem to the safety of Egypt. Later, when it was safe to return, they settled in Nazareth of Galilee. We consider how these moves, plus the moving and other traveling described in the Lord's Word, speak to us about the forward spiritual movement that we to be making throughout the course of our lives. | By Rev. Garry B. Walsh | Phoenix, AZWord Became Flesh, Part 4 - Preferred Before Me

We want the warm glow of Christmas to stay, but we know that's not how it works. Yet we can keep the baby Lord in us alive and strong if we are willing to go to Egypt. Worship Service: Sermon only - December 31, 2017
Suppose someone keeps a leopard and a panther in an apartment and as the one who feeds them, is able to live safely with them. No one else can visit unless their owner first removes these wild animals. (True Christian Religion 331:7) | By Rev. Eric H. Carswell | Bryn Athyn CathedralSimeon
Worship Service: Informal Family - December 31, 2017
When Jesus was only a few weeks old His parents brought Him to the temple, as was the custom. There they were met a man, Simeon, who held Jesus in his arms, blessed Him, and gave thanks. The image of the old man Simeon holding the new-born Jesus is a useful one to start the year off with. On the one hand we have someone reaching the end of his life. On the other a life just beginning. When we reach these important transitions it is important that we, like Simeon, can recognise the hope for the future and trust the Lord is creating something good even if we will not live to see it. | By Rev. Joel C Glenn | Westville, RSA
