Practicing Forgiveness - Why Forgive?
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - February 25, 2018
This Sunday we begin the Practicing Forgiveness programme with a question: "Why Forgive?" Why should we forgive people who have hurt us? What is it about forgiveness that is so essential to spiritual life that all the major world religions teach about how important it is? And - most importantly - how do we do it? How do we grant and seek forgiveness in a genuine way? Come on Sunday as we begin to try to find answers to these important questions. | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith | Westville, RSAAbram and Lot Separate
Worship Service: Sermon only - February 25, 2018
Growing understanding leads to better choices. "Now the land was not able to support [Abram & Lot], that they might dwell together, for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together. And there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram's livestock and the herdsmen of Lot's livestock." (Genesis 13:6-7) | By Rev. Eric H. This message is Part 1 in a 6-Part series that looks at different types of healing miracles performed by Jesus while He was in the world. The focus here is on what is means, not to be without natural sight, but what it means to lack understanding of how we should live and how to overcome the problems that life presents to us. | By Rev. Garry B. Walsh | Phoenix, AZWill of God, Part 1 - Why We Need to Seek the Will of God
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - February 18, 2018
What is God's will for you? This is a central question for our spiritual lives. We can listen to false messages about what that is. But if we really want to know and pursue God's will for us, we must become discipline students of the Lord Jesus Christ—we must become disciples. | By Rev. The world tells us that to be great we must be better than others. We must be stronger, richer, more skilled and so on. If someone is ahead of us we are not, obviously, the best. The Lord redefines greatness. Greatness is not to excel others. Greatness is putting others first. Not only does putting others first make us great; it removes the competition. When we put others first we do not need to feel superior to anyone. We can be content that we have done our part to make the world a better place. | By Rev. In Genesis chapter 12 Abram and Sarai went down to Egypt. Abram asked Sarai to say she was his sister so they wouldn’t kill him and take her. But after Pharaoh took Sarai into his house, he discovered that she was Abram’s wife and returned her to him. The commandments against coveting will take you deeper and change you more, especially as you apply it to the other commandment. It can build your relationship with the Lord because it is about desires. To have our desires changed, we must fight against them because they sin or lead to sin against the Lord. | By Rev. Abraham depicts the highest level of humanity, the Lord's, and by reflection, our own. Yet his firstborn is Ishmael - a rough and stubborn beginning on the path of regeneration. - BDS | By Rev. Brian D. Smith | Mitchellville, MDCollected, One by One
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - February 11, 2018
There's a verse somewhere in the middle of Isaiah that says, ...."you shall be collected, one by one...." Someone recently showed me this verse and pointed out that it has important implications for how we approach our relationships with other people and the Lord. | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith | Westville, RSASpiritual Salt
Worship Service: Informal Family - February 11, 2018
In 2nd Kings chapter 2, the water at Jericho was bad, so Elisha “healed” the water by putting salt into it. Salt was used in the Israelite offerings of unleavened bread, and is also an ingredient in our Holy Supper bread. The Lord spoke positively about “salt” in the New Testament. As we take Holy Supper this week, we will explore the symbolism of salt in our lives. | By Rev. Solomon J. Keal | Bryn Athyn Heilman HallThe Journey of Love - a message Honoring Caregivers

Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - February 04, 2018
Getting a true perspective on life depends entirely on what witnesses you believe. We are commanded to not bear false witness against our neighbor so that truth and justice can prevail for others. We also must seek the truth and trust the witness of the Lord, which happens as we flee from false witness of every kind. | By Rev. Derrick Lumsden | Sarver, PALooking for Signs
Worship Service: Informal Family - February 04, 2018
Signs are helpful in navigating through life. And there are lots of different kinds of signs. In autumn, the leaves turning gold is a sign of coming winter. A street sign can warn us of an unexpected turn in the road ahead. What are the signs of Faith? What are the signs that the Lord is helping us? And what are the signs that we are doing what the Lord asks of us? The Word is full of stories about different signs. We will look at the story of Gideon, who asked the Lord for signs (using a fleece and the dew) that He will save Israel from their enemies. The gist of it is that this is also a sign to us that our love and wisdom can grow within us in amazing ways! It is a practical reminder that the Lord is working within us to open our eyes and help us become more loving people (complete with the insights on how to do so). We will talk about the signs that the Lord can be present in each of our lives. | By Rt. Rev. David H. Lindrooth | Bryn Athyn Heilman HallYour Life is Not Your Own
Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - February 04, 2018
Who does your life belong to? We know that at least some of it belongs to the Lord so we make man effort to give Him His due share. But what if all of your life, every last bit of it, belongs to the Lord? At first this might seem like a constraining idea. But in fact it can be freeing. We do not have to balance out whit is mine and what is His; when we give it all to Him we free ourselves to live our best lives possible. | By Rev. Joel C Glenn | Westville, RSA
