You Are Holy
Worship Service: Informal Family - August 18, 2024
It's a simple statement, and might seem strange for some, but obvious for others. Throughout the Word, we see the Lord connecting with people about holiness, telling them they are on holy ground, or in the presence of holiness, or will receive the Holy Spirit. So what is holiness, and how are you holy? | By Rev. Pearse M. Frazier | Bryn Athyn Cathedral UndercroftThe Gift of Freedom and Peace
Worship Service: Family (may include music) - July 07, 2024
“The Gift of Freedom and Peace” The Lord is the source of all that is good, and our civil liberties certainly feel good. As we reflect on Independence Day, and the gratitude we may have for our freedoms and the peace in our country, we can consider the kind of freedom and peace the Lord wants to offer us. As He told His disciples "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." (John 14:27) | By Rev. Pearse M. Frazier | Bryn Athyn CathedralNatural and Spiritual Freedom
Worship Service: Sermon only - July 07, 2024
As we reflect on Independence Day, we can be grateful for our natural freedom. But natural freedom is not exactly the same as spiritual freedom, which is one of the most precious gifts the Lord offers. From Divine Providence 73 we read "Freedom is wholly a matter of love, so that love and freedom are united... In general, there are three kinds of freedom: natural, rational, and spiritual freedom." As we look toward Memorial Day, we consider the important part memory plays in feeling gratitude. How and what we remember is directly tied to our affections, what we love and what we choose. The Lord invites us to remember the blessing He offers us, if we choose. How? Come and see! | By Rev. Pearse M. Frazier | Bryn Athyn Cathedral UndercroftThe Lord's Orders

"Children, have you any food." (John 21.5) After the Lord's resurrection, He sent the eleven disciples out to preach the gospel to all nations. Soon after He again appeared to them as they were fishing and asked "Children, have you any food?" and they replied no, for they had not caught any fish. Why were the disciples fishing when the Lord clearly gave them a command to go and preach the gospel? The disciples learned one more valuable lesson after the Lord’s resurrection. | By Rev. Pearse M. Worship Service: Sermon only - April 07, 2024
"Truths cannot be implanted except by means of affections which well forth as from charity and love." (AC 4018.3) When the Lord sent His disciples out to preach the gospel, they already had practically all the knowledge needed for this important work. The Lord wanted His good news to spread to every nation, but He also hoped for the salvation of these very disciples. This Sunday we will see through the story of the Lord appearing to the disciples after His resurrection how it is only in doing the work of love that faith can save. | By Rev. Pearse M. Worship Service: Family (may include music) - November 26, 2023
Christmas commences with prophecy, as the Old Testament foretells the birth of the Lord. This Sunday, we delve into Isaiah's prophecies, considering his message to the people and the possible significance for his original audience. We also reflect on what these prophecies might have meant to those living just before the Lord's birth—the first Christmas. Exploring their thoughts and emotions allows us to draw parallels with our own experiences. Come and see! | By Rev. Pearse M. Frazier | Bryn Athyn CathedralGlory! Truly Seeing the Lord
Worship Service: Sermon only - November 26, 2023
The Lord's birth marks the beginning of a process often called "glorification." Essentially, it unveils the genuine identity of the Lord – Human. This revelation echoes through prophetic voices, as seen in Isaiah 9: "For to us, a child is born... And he will be called... Mighty God...." The process of understanding God's true nature unfolds through foreshadowing prophecy, followed by the profound experience of witnessing His infancy. Come and see! | By Rev. Pearse M. Worship Service: Family (may include music) - May 14, 2023
At the crucifixion, Jesus gave charge of His mother Mary to the disciple John. And this reflects the invitation the Lord offers to us all. The Lord forms the church in our hearts. In as much as we love the truth, our neighbor, and the Lord, the church grows within us. Yes, the church has structure from the doctrines the Lord has given us through His Word. Yes, there is a natural organization of people who share the values of those teachings. But it is all from the Lord's love, and it is from that love that the church finds life. The family service will focus on angelic mothers and guardian angels. And yet, the teachings are related. | By Rev. Pearse M. Frazier | Bryn Athyn CathedralThe Church of Our Hearts

Worship Service: Informal Family - October 02, 2022
Think of something you've committed to - a job, a new habit, a friendship, a marriage or any project. We have so many high hopes, plans and ideals. But then things get messy, and it can be so easy to lose track of what's most important. In the parable of the Lost Coin from Luke 15, the Lord outlines a method of how to rediscover those treasures. | By Rev. Pearse M. Frazier | Bryn Athyn Heilman HallProphecy... Christmas is Coming!

Christmas is coming! Waiting can be hard, but the anticipation can also be exciting. And yes, we have waited all year. But how long did people wait for the very first Christmas? What is the Lord trying to tell you about Himself, about others, or even about yourself when He said "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh." (Luke 6 :20-21). This pre-Christmas season service considers how the Lord speaks to all of us, calling us to have hope, and faith, and yes, laughter. | By Rev. Pearse M. Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - November 06, 2016
This week we turn to the parable of the wise and foolish maidens. The Lord tells us that the kingdom of heaven is like being a wise maiden who brings extra oil with her so that if her lamp runs out, she will be ready. Oil represents love, but what does it mean to bring extra love, just in case? You can't have "extra love;" it isn’t a commodity, like oil. The Lord tells us that the key to having love is to also have faith. | By Rev. Pearse M. Frazier | Sarver, PARemember the Greatest Commandment: The Lord Is One

A wonderful way to prepare for Christmas is "in willing well and doing well to the neighbor, in acting in every work from justice and equity, from good and truth, and in like manner in every office; in a word, the life of charity consists in performing uses." | By Rev. Pearse M. Frazier | Sarver, PA
