Contentment over Materialism
Type of Event: Worship Service: Informal Family
Date Recorded: October 28, 2018
Location: Bryn Athyn Heilman Hall
Topics: Journey - Love Over Ego
Can we avoid letting anxiety and worry diminish our feelings of contentment, peace and satisfaction? Can material things reduce our quality of life as well as increase it? We continue our Journey series about the book of Daniel and Love Over Ego with the story of the next king of Babylon (Daniel chapter 5). Belshazzar has a great feast using the gold and silver vessels stolen from the temple in Jerusalem. A hand appears writing a mysterious warning. It seems that Belshazzar cares only about power and wealth. Daniel has no desire for the rewards of power and wealth that the king offers. He trusts the Lord for all his needs. We too can choose “Contentment over Materialism” like Daniel, who did not covet the rewards and riches that Belshazzar so highly valued.
